Rice's Hat-Trick Gives Cannoneers First Win of Season

BRONX, NY - The Pratt Institute's Men's soccer team (1-5) used a hat-trick from Jared Rice (Houston, TX) to earn its first victory of the season, defeating CCNY 3-2 on Saturday afternoon.

Rice got the Cannoneers on the board 26:34 into the first half as he put home his first goal of the game to take a 1-0 lead.

Following a scoreless next 40 minutes, CCNY tied the match up at one with 15 minutes remaining when John Yarui scored his first goal of the season.

Just two minutes later, Rice connected for his second goal of the match of an assist from Taewan Kim (Seoul, South Korea) to regive Pratt a 2-1 lead.

Pratt couldn't maintain the lead as CCNY converted a penalty kick with 10 minutes remaining to tie the game at two.

Continuing his stellar game, Rice put home the game winner, his third goal of the match off an assist from Nick Lan (Taipei, Taiwan).

In net, Carter Boliek (Fayetteville, NC) earned his first win of the season, stopping four shots.

This marks the first win over an NCAA opponent since the men's soccer program was brought back in 2016.

Pratt returns to action on Wednesday when it travels to Delaware Valley University for a 6 pm start.
