BROOKLYN, NY - The Pratt Institute's women's basketball team (4-8) used a monster game from
Katy O'Connor to end a four-game slide, defeating Berkeley College 70-66 in overtime on Thursday evening.
O'Connor dominated on both ends of the floor, finishing with 26 points and 28 rebounds. Â This marks the second time this season O'Connor finished with 28 rebounds in a game.
Sophie Bischoff added 14 points and 4 rebounds while
Kinako Miyake scored a season high 11 points.
The first half featured back and forth action with neither team leading by more than five throughout the first 20 minutes of action. Pratt finished the second quarter strong to take a 34-33 lead into the break.
The third quarter was controlled by the Cannoneers as it did not trail throughout the 10 minutes. Â With the game tied at 38, used a 14-6 run over the final seven minutes to take its largest lead of the game, 52-44 into the final quarter.
Pratt struggled offensively in the fourth quarter, scoring just seven points. Â However, trailing by two with two seconds remaining, O'Connor knocked down two clutch free throws to send the game into overtime.
Pratt led the entire overtime until Berkeley tied the game up at 66 with 19 seconds remaining. Â Three seconds later, Miyake was fouled and converted both free throws. Â Berkeley had a late chance to tie the game, but missed, leading to two more O'Connor free throws and a four point win for Pratt.
Pratt returns to action on Tuesday when it hosts Brooklyn College at 7 pm.
