Thomsen’s Hat-Trick Not Enough as Women’s Soccer Falls at NJCU

The NCAA's goal-scoring leader scored her 24th goal of the season after her fourth hat-trick.

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Katherine Thomsen recorded her fourth hat-trick of the season and added to her NCAA-leading goal tally, but the Pratt Institute women's soccer team took a 6-3 defeat on the road to New Jersey City University on Sunday afternoon.

The Gothic Knights (5-9-3) scored just moments into the game and Kim Brites would find the back of the net four times in the opening 11 minutes to put Pratt (7-6) at a 4-0 deficit. Thomsen snapped a two-game stretch without a goal, finishing a feed from Ariana Dillon in the 25th minute and the Cannoneers went into the lockers trailing by three.

Thomsen brought the black-and-gold within two with a strike 10 minutes into the second stanza, but the Gothic Knights would score two quick goals to regain their cushion.

Thomsen finished her hat-trick in the 76th minute, converting a penalty kick for her 24th goal of the season.

Brites finished with five goals to lead the Gothic Knights and improve her goal total to 18.

Thomsen fired seven shots (four on goal) to lead Pratt. Siena Sujitno finished with two shots (one on goal) and Ava Hunwick and Mia Wong both logged a shot on goal. Emma Gaspari made eight saves in goal.

Pratt hosts City College of New York on Tuesday, October 25 at Randall's Island Field 10 with a 3:30 p.m. kickoff.
