BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Pratt Institute women's volleyball team saw a three-match win streak snapped with a straight-set road defeat (25-22, 25-19, 25-21) to borough foe Brooklyn College on Thursday evening.
The Cannoneers (10-8) were paced by 12 kills each from Olivia Julich and Rose Moon. Reigning Coast-to-Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week Julich went error-free on 16 swings for a .750 hitting night. Emily Sontag added eight kills. Gabby Genduso handed out 34 assists and Deanna Colondona brought up 12 digs.
Brooklyn (16-12) saw three with double-figure kills led by Aleah Rafat's 12 kills to take the season series, 2-1.
Pratt led by as many as seven in the opening set, 11-4, before a 14-3 run put Brooklyn ahead by four, 18-14, and never trailed again despite Pratt pulling within one one two separate occasions late in the frame.
A close second stanza saw nine ties and four lead changes. The gold-and-black pulled away by as many as four on multiple occasions and as late as 17-13, but could hold off the hosts who closed out the set on a 12-2 run.
Pratt led again early in the third at 10-5 before finding themselves tied at 12-all and 16-all, but a 6-0 run for the Bulldogs gave the hosts enough separation to close out the match in three.
Pratt closes out the regular season on Saturday, October 29 with a tri-match at Kean University in Union, New Jersey with Misericordia University starting at noon.
