Men’s Basketball Falters to Roanoke in Fall Semester Finale

Pratt grabbed an early lead and was tied 20-all before the Virginia visitors pulled away.

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – After a tie game midway through the first half, Roanoke College pulled away from the Pratt Institute men's basketball team in an 84-42 decision in the Cannoneers' final game of the fall semester on Saturday afternoon at the Activity Resource Center.

Cameron Hatcher led Pratt (3-10) scoring 13 points with five rebounds with a steal and a block. Daniel Golub had seven points with a trio of boards and Ace Bibbs added six points with two dimes.

Roanoke (7-1) placed four in double figures led by Marcus Morgan's 15 points. Zach Rosenthal and Justin Kuthan chipped in 12 points each.

Pratt built a 14-8 lead early in the first following an 11-3 run powered by six points from Cameron Hatcher. The Maroons responded with a 12-1 outburst to pull ahead before the Cannoneers drew back even at 20-all at the nine-minute mark.

But the visitors from Virginia found their rhythm and shot over 50 percent the rest of the way and distanced themselves from the Cannoneers.

The Maroons finished shooting 49 percent (35-of-71) for the contest while the Cannoneers connected on just 29 percent (16-of-56)

Pratt resumes their schedule in the new year hosting Saint Elizabeth University at the ARC on Thursday, January 5. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
