BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – Despite a game-high 24-point effort from Patrick O'Gorman and a double-double from Cameron Hatcher, the Pratt Institute men's basketball team suffered their first loss of the new year with an 84-72 setback to Bryn Athyn College on the road on Monday evening.
Coming off a season-high in his last outing and being named C2C Player of the Week earlier today, O'Gorman registered his fifth 20-plus-point game of the season shooting 7-of-14 from the field and 6-of-12 from behind the arc. Hatcher logged a 17-point, 11-rebound, six-assist effort for his third double-double of the season and his ninth straight game scoring in double figures.
Making his first collegiate start, Sebastion Roda added 16 points to go along with seven boards and three steals. Daniel Golub chipped in eight points with a quartet of rebounds and assists.
Will Little led Bryn Athyn (7-6) with 23 points and nine rebounds. Isaiah Cureton chipped in 21 points off the bench and Jamal Cannady Jr. contributed 15.
A close contest in the early parts of the first half saw the host Lions build a five-point lead on two occasions with Pratt reeling them back in to take a one-point lead. After a Lucas Zamboni triple put the black-and-gold up by one, 27-26, at the 7:26 mark, Bryn Athyn scored seven unanswered to start a 21-8 run to close the half and remain on top for good.
Back-to-back O'Gorman trifectas early in the second stanza cut a 13-point deficit to seven to give the Cannoneers some momentum, but Pratt couldn't pull any closer despite O'Gorman's and Hatcher's 14 points each in the period.
Pratt made five more three-pointers and shot 43 percent from three-point land, but the hosts shot 43 percent from the floor and held a 22-10 edge in points off turnovers and 30-16 in scoring in the paint.
Pratt returns to the comforts of home on Wednesday, January 11 and welcomes Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham to the ARC for a 5 p.m. tip-off.
