Women’s Volleyball Sweeps CCNY On The Road

Josie Johnson had 10 kills and Olivia Julich added nine kills in the straight-set win.

NEW YORK – The Pratt Institute women's volleyball team cruised past City College of New York in a straight-set, 3-0 (25-12, 25-16, 25-19), victory on Tuesday evening at Nat Holman Gymnasium. The Cannoneers move to 7-8 on the season after a 10-day layoff from game action.

Josie Johnson paced the Cannoneer attack with a match-high 10 kills and flirted with a double-double with eight digs. Olivia Julich landed nine kills and one solo block. Zeynep Akgol chipped in five kills and 10 digs. Colleen Russell also contributed five kills at a .571 clip with a block.

Gabby Genduso handed out 18 assists with three aces and Emma Leavey posted match-highs of 16 digs and four aces.

Pratt remained in control throughout the match and only trailed early in each frame and never by more than three points. The Cannoneers had a 34-15 edge in kills and a 9-2 advantage in aces while holding the Beavers (6-9) to a -.094 hitting percentage.

Pratt continues a busy three-match week headed to York College on Thursday, October 19 with first serve at 7 p.m.
