BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Pratt Institute men's soccer team finished their 2023 campaign on a two-match unbeaten streak as Paxton Lyman's 73rd-minute equalizer pushed the Cannoneers to a 1-1 result with York College on Friday afternoon at Aviator Field.
Pratt finishes the season with a 1-12-3 record after back-to-back draws while York wraps up with a 1-11-2 mark.
Both teams played to a scoreless deadlock over the opening 45 with York maintaining 10-4 shot advantage but only managing to place one shot on goal.
The Cardinals found their accuracy in the second stanza and in the 68th minute took a 1-0 lead on a Anuar Arias goal.
The black-and-gold responded five minutes later as Jude Fox's free kick from the Cannoneer defensive end sailed over the Cardinal back line and Carter Tillman fired a shot from inside the box that was saved with Lyman knocking in the rebound to level the match.
The Cannoneers nearly took the lead with 10 minutes remaining in regulation as Bryan Hong-Dominguez' shot from 25 yards out hit the crossbar and Lyman's follow-up attempt also found the woodwork.
Dimitris Papagiannakopoulos made all four of his saves in the final 15 minutes to preserve the tie.
York finished with a 20-10 shot edge and 8-4 in shots on goal. Pratt earned a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.
With their 2023 campaign complete, Pratt looks forward to beginning a new era in 2024 as full members of the Atlantic East Conference.
