Kylie Grant had 27 points, 14 rebounds and five assists

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Sophomore Kylie Grant went for 27 points and 14 rebounds and all six Cannoneers scored a field goal, but it wasn't enough for the Pratt Institute women's basketball team in a 66-54 defeat to Berkeley College on Monday evening.

Grant shot 13-of-16 from the free throw line to match a game-high with 27 while and pulled down a game-best 14 rebounds. She extended her streak to 20 games scoring in double figures with her fourth straight game with 20 or more points.

Victoria Liu scored in double figures shooting 4-of-9 from the field with two three-pointers for 11 points. Kinako Miyake logged seven points and Almudena Valenzuela chipped in five. Yuntao Liu scored her first collegiate basket, secured five caroms, and rejected two shots.

Berkeley (2-20) was led by Amal Mahmoud's 27-point, 12-rebound double-double. Beulah Blake added 15 points.

The Knights used a 61 percent shooting frame in the first to build a 25-10 lead through 10 minutes. The Cannoneers chipped away at the deficit in the second stanza behind Grant and Miyake combining for 19 points and Pratt came as close as three before heading into the lockers down 39-31.

In the third, Berkeley pulled away to a 46-36 advantage before Pratt assembled an 8-0 run to bring about a one-possession game but couldn't keep the momentum going as the offense went scoreless over the final four minutes and trailed 55-44 going to the final period where they could only pull within nine.

Pratt is back in action at home on Friday, February 10 welcoming SUNY College at Old Westbury to the ARC for a 6:30 p.m. tip.
