NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The No. 5-seeded Pratt Institute men's tennis team ended their 2022-23 season with a 5-0 defeat to No. 4-seeded Salisbury University on Friday afternoon in the quarterfinal round of the 2023 Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Championship, hosted by Christopher Newport University at James River Country Club.
Pratt was unable to reverse the outcome of the rematch of last year's quarterfinal matchup. Salisbury (10-8) surrendered just two games collectively in the double session and won at love in No. 3 and 4 singles to clinch advancing to the semifinals against top-seeded UC Santa Cruz.
Named to the All-C2C Second Team yesterday, Mehul Bhargava led the lineup and trailed 6-0, 2-1 in a hard-fought no-decision at No. 1 singles. Ryan Nelsen took two games off his opponent at No. 2 singles before the overall match was decided.
Pratt ends their season with a level 6-6 overall record.
