ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Junior Siena Sujitno scored nine minutes into the 2023 season, but the Pratt Institute women's soccer team suffered a 6-1 setback to Bard College on Saturday afternoon at Ferrari Field.
Sujitno lifted the Cannoneers (0-1) to an early 1-0 lead taking a feed from classmate Ava Hunwick who sent her clear past the Raptors back line and putting it away over the keeper with a one-touch shot from 23 yards out.
The Cannoneers led for the next 30 minutes despite facing a 14-0 shot discrepancy, before Bard (1-0) found the equalizer in the 39th minute and the go-ahead goal with just over one minute to play in the first half.
Bard opened a 3-1 lead eight minutes into the second stanza and pulled away scoring three more times. The Cannoneers were held to two second-half shots coming from first-year Emma Pratt and Hunwick. First-year Sophia Szabos made 15 saves in her collegiate debut.
Pratt returns to the pitch on Thursday, September 7 leading off a road doubleheader with the men against Lehman College. Kick off in the Bronx is set for 4:30 p.m.
