SCRANTON, Pa. — The Pratt Institute women's volleyball team fell in straight sets, 25-15, 25-20, 25-8, on the road to Marywood University in Atlantic East Conference play on Saturday afternoon.
Pratt (6-15, 1-4) was led by Natalie Dziadzio's nine kills and eight digs. Kelsy Padilla added four kills, five digs and an ace. Emily Sontag handed out 13 assists with three digs, two kills an ace and a block. Gabriella Prieto helped anchor the back row with eight digs and two assists.
The Cannoneers got off to slow starts in each of the three sets but saw their closest frame in the second, coming alive late and shrinking a 22-14 deficit and erasing five straight set points to pull within four at 24-20.
Marywood (7-19, 3-2) was led by Casey Hagerstrom's 10 kills on .600 hitting.
Pratt will try to clinch a spot in the 2024 Atlantic East Conference Championship in their regular season finale against Centenary University on Wednesday, November 6. The Cannoneers will earn the fifth and final spot in the post-season tournament with at least one set win against the Cyclones. If they are swept, Pratt will finish on the bubble as the No. 6 seed. First serve in Hackettstown is 7 p.m.
