Grant Joins 1000-Point Scoring Club as Women’s Basketball Plays Home Finale Against Berkeley

Kylie Grant reaches the milestone in 56 games

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Pratt Institute junior Kylie Grant scored 16 points and joined the coveted 1,000-point scoring club as the women's basketball team fell to Berkeley College, 66-36, on Sunday afternoon in their final home game of the 2023-24 campaign at the Activities Resource Center.

Grant needed nine points to reach the plateau and hit the milestone with a layup at the 8:18 mark of the fourth quarter. She also pulled down seven rebounds and swiped three steals. Olivia Julich chipped in seven points and also secured seven boards to share the team-high with Grant.

Sierra Cummings added six points, six rebounds and four steals and Niya Witherspoon chipped in five points, three rebounds and three steals. Almudena Valenzuela contributed two points and two steals.

Berkeley (10-9) was led by Keisy Villanueva's stat-stuffing 35 points, 23 rebounds, seven blocks and six steals. 

The Knights shot 36 percent for the contest (27-of-72) and led from wire-to-wire building a 34-15 lead at the halftime intermission. Grant scored 14 of her points in the second half and 10 in the fourth quarter as the Cannoneers won the period, 15-10, behind 43 percent over the final 10.

Pratt travels to Purchase College on Tuesday, February 13 for a 7 p.m. showdown.
