CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. — Cameron Windt and Patrick O'Gorman combined for 50 points as the Pratt Institute men's basketball team drained 18 three-pointers but couldn't hold off a second-half surge by Clarks Summit University in a 90-83 defeat on Wednesday evening in their final regular season road contest.
Windt shot a blistering 8-of-11 from three-point land and 9-of-15 overall to lead all scorers with 26 points, matching his rookie season-high for the third time. O'Gorman followed with 24 points on 6-of-12 shooting from distance and dished out 11 assists for a double-double, also grabbing five boards.
Thomas Van Trier added eight points, three rebounds and three assists. Quinn McCormick pulled down a game-best 10 rebounds with seven points and two assists. Jaden Young knocked down a pair of triples for six points with three rebounds, and a pair of assists and steals.
The Cannoneers scored the first seven points and built double-digit advantage just five-and-a-half minutes into the contest. Behind the strength of 55 percent shooting (17-of-31) as team in the first half and 17 points and five triples from both Windt and O'Gorman, Pratt stretched their lead to as many as 25 points on two separate occasions before leading 51-33 headed into the lockers.
In a tale of two halves, Pratt cooled off at the break while Clarks Summit found the range in the second stanza and shot 54 percent (20-of-37). The Defenders used a 16-3 spurt and whittled the Cannoneer lead down to five with 11 minutes to play. Pratt clung to the lead for the next four minutes before the hosts scored 10 unanswered to take their first lead of the contest, 76-72, a lead they wouldn't relinquish. Pratt still remained down just one, 81-80, with four minutes to play before the Defenders ran off eight straight to pull away for good, leading 89-80 with a minute left.
Ashton West led four Defenders off the bench scoring in double-figures with 20 points. Isaiah Coleman added 15 as the Clarks Summit bench combined for 65 points. Behind a strong second half, CSU outshot the Cannoneers, 47 percent (35-of-74) to 41 percent (29-of-70).
Pratt returns home to the ARC on Saturday, February 17 for their regular season finale and celebrates Alumni Day and Senior Day hosting Five Towns College in a 1 p.m. showdown.
