NEW YORK — Led by a pair of goals and an assist from Kat Thomsen, the Pratt Institute women's soccer team had a comfortable 6-1 non-conference home victory over City College of New York on Saturday morning at Randall's Island.
Siena Sujitno also scored a pair of second-half goals, while Emma Pratt and Kayla Galvan each found the back of the net in the win that moved the Cannoneers back over .500 at 3-2 overall.
Thomsen opened the scoring just over four minutes into the contest with a long run from midfield. In the 11th minute, Thomsen found Galvan's head in front of goal off a corner – the first collegiate goal for the senior that also was the eventual game-winner.
Emma Pratt was dragged down at the edge of the box in the 33rd minute and converted on the penalty for a 3-0 cushion but the Beavers (1-4) later converted on their opportunity from the spot in the 38th minute for their lone goal and Pratt went into intermission leading 3-1.
Thomsen opened the scoring in the second half with a goal in the 49th minute with Sujitno padding the lead with tallies in the 59th and 79th minutes; Claire Hook also picking up an assist on the Sujitno's first goal.
Pratt maintained a 20-9 advantage in shots. Savannah Depaz made three saves in a scoreless second half, while Emma Gaspari made two saves and earned the win,
The Cannoneers travel to New Jersey on Tuesday, September 17 for a non-conference road test against Saint Elizabeth University starting at 4 p.m.
