NEW YORK — Diego Piña and Efe Ozdemir both scored their first goals of the season, but the Pratt Institute men's soccer team succumbed to a flurry of second-half goals in a 5-2 defeat to Hunter College on a rainy Saturday afternoon at Randall's Island.
The Hawks (2-5-1) scored less than 90 seconds into the contest on Saleel Eldin's goal in the 2nd minute in what would stand as the lone goal of the first half.
The Cannoneers (1-6-2) found the equalizer quickly after intermission as Piña scored in the 48th minute. After a nearly 20-minute deadlock, Hunter scored three goals in less than three minutes with Ben Avakook finding the back of the net in the 65th, 66th, and 68th minutes for a 4-1 lead.
Ozdemir cut the deficit to two with a goal in the 76th minute — his first collegiate goal — and the Hawks put one in just before the end of regulation.
Pratt returns to Randall's Island to host Sarah Lawrence College on Tuesday, October 1st for a 7:45 p.m. non-conference tilt.
