Nolan’s Five-Goal Day Powers Women’s Soccer to 7-3 Win Over Centenary

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. — The Pratt Institute women's soccer team rolled to a 7-3 road win over Centenary University on Wednesday afternoon in Atlantic East play.

The black-and-gold struck twice late in the first half to seize control. Kate Nolan (Perth, Australia) opened the scoring in the 37th minute off a feed from Alyssa Trujillo (Morrison, Colo.), and Chloe Tien (Broomfield, Colo.) doubled the lead in the 41st from a Nolan setup. Centenary pulled one back on a header in the 43rd to make it 2-1 at the break.

Pratt (7-4-2, 3-2) poured it on after halftime. Nolan netted again in the 50th minute, and after Centenary closed to 3-2 in the 63rd, first-year defender Layan Reed (Boca Raton, Fla.) answered in the 69th with her first of the season — the eventual game-winner. Nolan completed the Cannoneers' burst with goals in the 71st, 74th and 83rd minutes to cap a five-goal performance. Centenary (4-8-3, 1-4) converted in the 73rd minute, finishing a follow-up after a saved penalty.

Nolan finished with five goals and an assist on nine shots on target. Tien added a goal, while Trujillo tallied an assist. Emma Pratt (North Attleboro, Mass.) generated chances throughout, firing 14 shots. Senior Kat Thomsen (Palo Alto, Calif.) and Lina Darcy (Newton, Mass.) also pressured the hosts as Pratt outshot Centenary 45-9 and held a 4-1 edge in corners.

Senior goalkeeper Emma Gaspari (Naperville, Ill.) started and made one save in the first half. Junior Savannah DePaz (Chapel Hill, N.C.) earned the win with three second-half stops, including a penalty save before the Cyclones scored on the rebound.

Centenary was led by Liliana Flores (one goal, one assist), Jenna Magrino (one goal) and Alissandra Auletta (one goal). Goalkeeper Kelby Kaiser finished with 12 saves.

Pratt has won two straight in Atlantic East Conference play. The Cannoneers host first-place Marywood University on Saturday, Oct. 25, at 3:45 p.m. at Aviator Sports & Events Center.
