Men’s Basketball Takes Wire-to-Wire Road Win Over York to Close out 2025

JAMAICA, N.Y. — Three Cannoneers scored in double figures and the Pratt Institute men's basketball team closed out the 2025 calendar year in impressive fashion, securing an 86-78 road victory over York College on Saturday afternoon at the Health & P.E. Complex.

The Cannoneers (7-3) led wire-to-wire, using a high-powered offense and several career-best performances to earn their seventh win before the turn of the new year and their fifth win in in the last six games.

First-year forward Kurt Thomas (Dallas, Texas) was sensational off the bench, pouring in a career-high 23 points on 10-of-15 shooting. Senior forward Cameron Hatcher (Cincinnati, Ohio) was equally dominant, posting a double-double with 21 points, 11 rebounds, four blocks, and two steals.

Orchestrating the offense, first-year guard Elijah Fermaint (Orlando, Fla.) delivered a masterful career-high 13 assist effort to go with seven points and six rebounds. Sophomore guard Thomas Graetz (Sydney, Australia) finished with 12 points..

Pratt's offense was firing on all cylinders from the start. The gold-and-black opened the game on a 24-7 run, building a lead that swelled to as many as 21 point lead midway through the opening 20 and Pratt carried a 42-31 advantage into the lockers.

York (2-7) battled back in the second half, cutting the deficit to six at 70-66 with just over six minutes remaining. However, Hatcher answered with a clutch 3-pointer, and Thomas followed with a powerful dunk to push the lead back to nine and halt the Cardinals' momentum. Pratt sealed the game down the stretch with timely layups from Hatcher and Thomas.

The Cannoneers shot a blistering 55.7 percent (34-of-61) from the floor for the contest and recorded 23 assists on their 34 made baskets. The team's defense was also a factor, blocking seven shots and controlling the glass with a 40-33 rebounding advantage.

Joshua Jackman led York with 21 points and seven rebounds. Jonte Wallace and Christopher Smith each added 16 points for the Cardinals.

Pratt takes a hiatus for the holidays before returning to the ARC floor in the new year on Saturday, Jan. 3, to host Elms College. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
