BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Led by a pair of double-doubles from Cameron Windt and Mekhi Davis, the Pratt Institute men's basketball team secured a 67-60 victory over Centenary University in Atlantic East Conference action on Wednesday night at the Activity Resource Center.
Pratt (1-19, 1-7) led by as many as 21 and trailed for just 17 seconds to move into the win column for the first time this season also securing their first Atlantic East Conference victory in their inaugural season in the league.
Windt recorded game-highs of 21 points and six assists while also pulling down a career-high 11 rebounds for his first collegiate double-double. Davis assembled his third double-double of the season and second in as many games with 15 points and 12 rebounds to go along with three assists.
Sebastian Roda scored a season-high 10 points with two rebounds and two steals. Lucas Zamboni chipped in nine points with three steals and two dimes and a block. Quinn McCormick added eight points, seven rebounds and three blocks.
Centenary (9-12, 3-5) got on the board first after several trips down the floor for both teams, but a Windt triple on the Cannoneers next possession put Pratt ahead for good and he blitzed the Cyclones with three more trifectas over a span of 4:31 for a 16-4 lead. Pratt stretched the lead to 15 before taking a 37-24 lead into the lockers.
A 7-0 spurt early in the second stanza pushed the lead to 21, 49-28, and it remained comfortably in double digits before Centenary made a late push with two minutes to play and used a 7-0 run to pull within five, 63-58, with 35 seconds left but Pratt held off the comeback bid for the win.
Naire Preston led Centenary with 16 points, the only Cyclone to reach double figures. Devin Strickland added nine points and Jasir Lane pulled down 13 rebounds..
Pratt will celebrate Alumni Day and will look to make it two in a row playing their final home game of the season this Saturday, February 8 and welcoming Marywood University for a 1 p.m. showdown.
