ASTON, Pa. — The Pratt Institute women's tennis team, the top seed in the Atlantic East Conference Championship, advanced to the finals with a decisive 4-0 victory over Neumann University on Friday afternoon at ESCS Memorial Courts.
Pratt asserted its dominance early in the semifinal matchup, capturing quick wins in doubles play. Kayla Abraham and Pallavi Verghese won at love, 6-0, in the lead match. Beatrice Crespo and Victoria Delgado topped their opponents, 6-1, in the No. 2 position to securing the doubles point for Pratt.
The Cannoneers continued to assert their dominance in singles play, clinching straight-set victories at the first three spots. In the No. 1 singles match, Abraham dispatched her opponent 6-1, 6-0, while Verghese at No. 2 singles posted an impressive 6-0, 6-0 sweep. Crespo sealed Pratt's overall victory at No. 3 singles with a similarly commanding 6-0, 6-0 result.
With this semifinal win, Pratt Institute extends their winning streak to seven matches and improves its season record to 13-2. No. 2-seeded Marywood University defeated No. 3-seeded Marymount, 4-1, in the other semifinal match.
Pratt seeks its first Atlantic East Conference title facing Marywood in the championship match scheduled for Sunday, April 27, at 1 p.m. at Neumann University
