MADISON, N.J. — The Pratt Institute women's tennis team delivered another dominant performance on Saturday, rolling to a 7-0 shutout victory over Drew University at the Drew Tennis Complex.
The team set the tone early with a clean sweep in doubles play. At the top spot, junior Pallavi Verghese (Fayetteville, Ark.) and junior Beatrice Crespo (Kearny, N.J.) made quick work of their opponents with a 6-0 win. Senior Srishti Agarwal (Gurugram, India) and first-year Judith Song (Sharon, Mass.) followed with a 6-1 victory at No. 2 doubles, while junior Satoka Shibasaki (Tokyo, Japan) and first-year Olivia Tao (Ann Arbor, Mich.) secured a 6-1 win at No. 3.
In singles play, Verghese continued her dominant afternoon with a 6-1, 6-2 win on court one. Crespo followed suit at No. 2 singles, earning a 6-3, 6-4 victory. Song added a 6-3, 6-2 decision at the No. 3 spot, and Shibasaki picked up a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 4. Tao cruised to a perfect 6-0, 6-0 sweep at No. 5 singles, while first-year Quinn Steinman (Greendale, Wisc.) notched her first collegiate win with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6.
Pratt (3-0) returns to action on Sunday, October 5, hosting Rutgers-Camden at the USTA National Tennis Center in Queens, N.Y. starting at noon.
