JAMAICA, N.Y.  — The Pratt Institute men's soccer team scored three first-half goals on the way to a 4-1 non-conference road victory over York College on Monday afternoon.

Senior Griffin Benkovszky (Ashland, Va.) scored twice and rookie David Garcia-Sanchez (Alexander, Maine) notched the game-winner as the Cannoneers (3-9-1) outshot York (1-11-0) 29-4 and snapped a four-game skid.

Benkovszky opened the scoring in the 10th minute, collecting an unassisted tally for his first of the season..

In the 29th minute, Garcia-Sanchez netted his first career goal, finishing a feed from sophomore midfielder Naoki Alfred (Brooklyn, N.Y.) to double the lead. 

Benkovszky pushed the margin to 3-0 in the 34th minute, burying a rebound after a shot by graduate student Vasilis Nikolopoulos (Athens, Greece) hit the woodwork to earn credit for the assist.

York pulled a goal back in the 57th minute to cut the deficit to 3-1.

Pratt answered in the 72nd minute as sophomore Yuming Liang (Beijing, China) converted a service from senior Aditya Shivkumar (Bombay, India) for his first collegiate goal to finalize the 4-1 scoreline.

The Cannoneers established control from the opening kickoff, out-shooting the hosts 20-1 in the first half and forcing six saves before the intermission.

Bryan Hong-Dominguez (San Diego, Calif.) fired six shots on the afternoon, while rookie Lucca Novi (The Woodlands, Texas) added five attempts, including two on target. Shivkumar put all three of his shots on goal to go with his assist. Sophomore goalkeeper Hayden Pettit (Houston, Texas) made one save to earn his third victory of the season.

Pratt finished with a 29-4 advantage in total shots, a 13-2 edge in shots on goal and a 4-0 margin in corner kicks. 

With their non-conference slate now complete, Pratt returns to Atlantic East Conference action on Saturday, Oct. 24, celebrating Senior Day and hosting Gwynedd Mercy University at 5 p.m. at Randall's Island Field 10.
