BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Pratt Institute Associate Director for Athletic Training, Student Wellness, and Academic Success Kulsum Khan has announced the addition of Madison Hedrich to the Sports Medicine staff as assistant athletic trainer.Â
"We're excited to welcome Madi, she brings great clinical experiences and genuine passion for the athletic training field," Khan said. "She's going to be a great asset for our student-athletes and our department!" Â Â
A BOC-certified athletic trainer, Hedrich brings hands-on training and rehabilitation experience from a range of competitive environments. As an athletic training intern with Harvard University football this past spring, she evaluated and managed acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries, developed and progressed rehabilitation programs, applied splinting and therapeutic modalities, and assisted with emergency action planning.
Hedrich worked with the University of Maine football, ice hockey and field hockey programs as an undergrad, assisting with their evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation. She provided sideline emergency care and injury-prevention support, including taping, bracing and modalities. Hedrich also gained clinical experience at Husson University and Orono High School.
Beyond her clinical work, Hedrich has been active in the athletic training profession. She served on the NATA District One Student Advisory Committee, representing student athletic trainers and collaborating on professional development initiatives with Eastern Athletic Trainers' Association (EATA) leadership. She is an active member of the Maine Athletic Training Association (MATA), which awarded her the Wes Jordan Athletic Training Student Scholarship for her dedication to the profession of athletic training, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn.
A native of Presque Isle, Maine, Hedrich earned her Bachelor of Science in athletic training this past spring from the University of Maine. She a member of the Dean's List and was presented the Paul Linder Service Award by the UMaine Athletic Training Student Organization.
