BRONX, N.Y. — The Pratt Institute women's volleyball team picked up a pair of victories Saturday at Riesenberg Gymnasium, rallying for a 19-25, 22-25, 25-21, 25-20, 17-15 win over SUNY Maritime College before sweeping York College, 25-18, 25-15, 25-14.

The victories pushed Pratt (4-3) to its third consecutive win, marking the program's first three-match winning streak and its first time over .500 since the 2023 season.

In the opener against Maritime (0-8), the Cannoneers fell behind two sets to none before mounting a comeback. After Pratt claimed the third and fourth sets behind the offense of Colleen Russell (Asbury, N.J.) and Kelsy Padilla (Brooklyn, N.Y.), the teams traded leads throughout a fifth set that featured seven ties. The Privateers built an 11-7 lead and later held two match points at 14-12. A solo block from Joanna Doyle (Warren, N.H.) and a kill from Russell erased both match points to tie the score at 14-14, and Russell delivered consecutive kills to close out the 17-15 victory.

In the afternoon match against York (1-2), the Cannoneers controlled the action from the service line, firing 20 service aces across three sets. Pratt built an early 10-5 lead in the opening frame behind four aces from Padilla on the way to a 25-18 win. Alison Sontag (Manhasset, N.Y.) and Eden Shih (Manhattan, N.Y.) each keyed runs from the line in the second set to secure a 25-15 decision, and the Cannoneers finished off the sweep, 25-14, behind an early 6-1 run in the third.

Russell anchored the attack across both matches, totaling 28 kills, including a career-high 20 kills, 12 digs and six block assists against Maritime, before hitting .400 with eight kills against York. Emma Hwang (Dallas, Texas) handed out 43 assists and added 14 digs, five kills and five aces against the Privateers, while Padilla finished the day with 16 kills and seven aces. Jamie Shoemake (La Crescenta, Calif.) added 10 kills on .389 hitting in the five-set win, and Zoe Broerman (Cincinnati, Ohio) tallied 18 digs across the two matches.

Pratt totaled 89 kills and 36 service aces over the two matches, finishing with 10 total blocks against Maritime and holding the Cardinals to 13 kills.

Laci Werner led the Privateers with 18 kills and 13 digs, while Mikaela Thiel recorded 35 assists and nine aces. Zia Lefebvre paced the Cardinals with nine kills and seven blocks.

Pratt returns to action against the United States Merchant Marine Academy on Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 7 p.m. in Kings Point, N.Y.
