(Update: July 22, 2020) - Due to limitations and challenges in providing a safe and engaging environment as well as the expected limitations of the ARC, ALL REC competitive programming and events have been canceled through January 1st, 2021.

Intramural offerings will reassessed for the Spring semester. All usual Fall offerings will be considered for Spring activation.

(Update: June 26th, 2020) - Due to the limitations and challenges that go along with providing a safe and healthy environment, ALL intercollegiate sports have been canceled through January 1st, 2021. There will be NO HOME CANNONEER CONTESTS UNTIL JANUARY 1st, 2021 (Pending COVID outbreak status)

Also, as per the recommendations of state and local authorities, as well as institute leadership, the ARC will not be available for facility rentals (on and off-campus use). Facility rentals will resume once larger events are again accepted within NY State and at the decision of Pratt Institute.

----

(Update: June 15th, 2020) - Unfortunately, due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, ALL non-student ARC Memberships are suspended through at least the Fall 2020 semester, with an indefinite activation thereafter. The current reopening plan of the ARC for the Fall 2020 semester DOES NOT include non-student members.
As the understanding of the virus continues, Pratt Athletics and Recreation will continue to work with state and local authorities as well as with institute leadership on making adjustments over time to hopefully, once again, open access to ALL members.

As always, we ask that you continue to check back here, or follow us on Twitter and/or Instagram for quick news, updates, and information on Pratt REC, and everything that is the ARC.

LOCKER RENTAL REFUNDS

ALL items inside the Locker Rooms have been removed as per direction of the local and state officials. We thank many of you for scheduling your visits to campus to retrieve your items. We have a few items remaining for retrieval, so we ask that if you had items that were inside of the locker room that were not retrieved (or if you prefer we trash the items) to please contact us at recreation@pratt.edu to begin the process. We will not be holding on to the items much longer, so we ask that you contact us as soon as possible.

FAQ

How do I begin the process on receiving a refund on my ARC membership?

We ask that you please complete the ARC MEMBERSHIP REFUND REQUEST FORM. All active memberships will be terminated in Spring 2021. To begin the process of receiving your refund, you MUST complete the form.

How long will it take to receive a refund?

Due to the large volume of memberships, we will be handling all refunds on a first-completion-first serve basis. Refunds will be processed throughout the Spring 2021 semester. We ask that you give us ample time to do so within the early months of 2021.

Will members be notified upon a reopening, even if we request a refund and terminate our membership?

YES! We definitely plan on being transparent with all members when the ARC expands its reopening plan to non-student employees. Stay connected to our social media platforms (@prattrecwell) and the website at goprattgo.com.

When can we expect a return for non-student members to the ARC?

Unfortunately, we are still VERY unsure about a precise date. As of right now, no return BEFORE June 2021 is expected. We will continue to seek the advice and recommendation of local and state officials, as well as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on the matter.

When is the last date that I can complete the form?

No refund will be given unless each member completes the form. Refunds will be given on a first-completion-first-serve basis.

Will I still have access to the entry gates of Pratt's Campus?

No. All non-student members will no longer have access to the entry gates on Pratt's campus. As part of Pratt Institute's reopening measures, all non-Pratt individuals will be required to enter through the main gate (Willoughby) on campus. All current ID cards have been deactivated.

How do I go about retrieving my items left in the locker room?

Please contact us at recreation@pratt.edu. Campus will not be open until January 2021, but we can schedule a retrieval time for you to come to campus.

Will we be informed of policy changes and safety precautions before the ARC is reopened to non-student Members?

Absolutely! As we reopen, NEW procedures and protocols will be in place. Students will be the first to follow these guidelines as they return. As the ARC progresses in it's reopening measures, the updated policy changes and policies will be relayed to non-student members on requirements to access the ARC. ALL members are expected to follow the new procedures.

How can we stay connected to changes in the evolving reopening process?

This page will be updated as we move forward. Also, you can follow us on Twitter and Instagram for immediate information and news.

Will I be able to attend home Cannoneer contests in the Spring semester?

Unfortunately, COVID has taken our NCAA Spring schedule away as well. All Cannoneer teams will not be competing in Spring 2021. The ARC will not host home games, nor games of external schools.

How can I know if the HOME Cannoneer contests will return?

We recommend bookmarking this page which will be frequently updated. We also recommend following @goprattgo on Twitter and Instagram, as well as @prattrecwell on Twitter and Instagram, for updates on all things Pratt Athletics and Recreation. We look forward to getting back on the playing surfaces in Fall 2021.

When will renting the ARC once again become an option?

Rental of the ARC does not seem like it will be an option until after the ARC is completely open, operating, and accessible to all of its members and community. We do not anticipate opening the ARC for rentals until the reopening plan has been 100% activated.

Will there be any intramural events occurring?

Unfortunately, all Intramural events will be suspended until January 1st, 2021. We will review our status in regards to the virus as well as our ability to offer a safe environment for competitive participation. Stay tuned for Spring 2021 information.

What about Club Sports? Will they be active?

Club Sports will not be allowed to engage in their activity for the Fal 2020 semester. However, all Club Sports will be allowed to plan, recruit students (and leadership) for the Spring 2021 semester and beyond.

Also, those interested in starting a new club are encouraged to do so as well during this period. Inquiries, suggestions, and interest are open for discussion.

What will the outdoor fitness area of the ARC include?

Expect an area that will very much serve and mirror what was available inside of the ARC. The outdoor fitness area expects to see cardio equipment, free weights, kettle bells, performance mats, and various functional equipment available just outside of the ARC with social distancing measures in place. The area will be available until December 2020.

A return outside is possible for those who enjoyed the change of pace once the weather is warmer.

I'm a current student. Will I be able to just show up and use the equipment?

No. Under new changes and in line with New York State guidelines, all ARC operations operate on a reservation system. We ask that all students create an account with IMLeagues (IMLeagues.com/Pratt) and reserve their time slot of interest to workout.

Am I required to wear a mask?

In alignment with New York State guidelines, all users of the outdoor fitness area (and eventually the ARC) will be required to wear a mask at all times.

I love attending Pratt Rec fitness classes, will they be available?

YES! We will have a limited offering of in-person classes on campus, as well as virtual fitness offerings. As of right now, New York State guidelines require recreation classes to be held outdoors. If that changes, or the weather becomes sufficient enough for comfortable participation - whichever comes first - recreation classes will return.

After the last few months, I am looking for assistance to reach my fitness goals. Will the personal trainer be available?

Carina will indeed be available to assist ALL student who are looking for guidance in reaching their goals. We will have our group fitness class - still FREE to all students who want access to Carina, and Carina will be available for private lessons for a small fee.

Faculty and Staff will also have access to Carina for personal training - which is the ONLY option available to faculty and staff in our reopening plan.

Are you hiring student-employees?

As we slowly enter our reopening measures, yes, we will be hiring student-employees to fill a limited amount of positions. All interested students are encouraged to apply through the Pratt Institute Student-Employment portal. PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT OUR STAFF.

I'm a community member who just had my ARC membership canceled due to COVID. Will I be able to access the ARC in the future?

YES! Our intent to is return access of the ARC back to where it was prior to the pandemic breakout - access to our on-campus and beyond the gates communities. As stated, our priority at this time is the safety of our on-campus students. Future access for community, alumni, and 88th Precinct members could look and feel different pending the changes levied from this COVID experience, but all intentions are to return our communities.
