David Danzig was elevated to head men’s basketball coach in July 2022 after serving one season as an assistant coach. In addition to his coaching position, he also serves as recruiting coordinator for the department.
Danzig brings a wealth of basketball experience to Pratt after coaching professionally in Germany, at the NCAA Division I level, and as an assistant and head coach at a number of high schools. A former point guard who played at Haverford College, Danzig is known for his ability to develop players' skills and for his understanding of how to teach team defensive concepts.
In his first year at the helm in 2022-23, Danzig guided the program in its first season as a full NCAA Division III member. He steered the team to signature victories over Sarah Lawrence and St. Joseph’s-Long Island and the team earned a berth to the 2023 Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Championship.
Danzig helped develop Patrick O’Gorman – a two-time All-C2C Second Team selection – and Cameron Hatcher – C2C Rookie of the Year in 2022 and All-C2C Second Team in 2023.
Prior to Pratt, Danzig was an assistant in the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL), the top professional league in Germany. Working with three-time Coach of the Year John Patrick across two stints for s.Oliver Würzburg (2011-12) and Riesen Ludwigsburg (2013-15), he helped coach a number of former and rising NBA players including Maxi Kleber (currently Dallas Mavericks), Royce O'Neal (currently Brooklyn Nets), DJ Kennedy, Jon Brockman, and Coby Karl.
At Division I Saint Peters from 2016-17, he served as an assistant with John Dunne and helped lead Peacocks to winning the 2017 CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament (CIT).
Prior to working at St. Peters, Danzig was an assistant for a season with Hall of Fame coach Bob Hurley at Saint Anthony's High School where they assembled a perfect 32-0 record, won the New Jersey state championship, and was ranked No. 3 in the USA Today poll.
He has also worked as a coach in San Francisco for Mission High School and in Washington, DC with the Edmund Burke School.
