BROOKLYN -- Pratt sophomore Ari Grant was named Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Confernece Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday morning.
The forward set the tone for a dominant performance early in Pratt's 61-50 overtime win over New School early on, picking off a perimeter pass on the Narwhals opening possession and sailing in on a fast break for a two-handed dunk, Pratt's first points of the year. In all, the 6-foot-6 Grant notched career bests of 28 points and 18 rebounds to go along with game bests of two blocks in 42 minutes in Thursday's overtime win.
Grant was named to the All-HVIAC Team after a freshman season in which he finished fourth in scoring at 18.4 points per game and fifth in rebounding at 9.8 rebounds per game. He was three times named HVIAC Rookie of the Week in 2012-13.
The sophomore lead the Cannoneers back onto the hardwood tonight against visiting Fisher College at 7:30 p.m. at the ARC.
