PATCHOGUE, NY -- St. Joseph's College of Long Island held Pratt to 15 percent first half shooting and forced 14 turnovers in the first half of its 110-23 win over the Cannoneers Friday night in non-league men's basketball play.
The Eagles shot a scorching 62 percent for the game, holding Pratt to a 17 percent clip from the floor. Andrew Yaglenski led Pratt with 14 points, while forward Ari Grant led all players with three blocked shots to go along with a team-best six rebounds.
After a pair of Grant free throws pulled Pratt to within 6-2, a 9-0 Eagles run capped by a Sean McCarthy jumper found the hosts leading 15-2, and St. Joseph's held a double-figure lead the remainder of the way. After a Grant field goal snapped the Eagles run, a McCarthy layup followed in starting a 10-0 run, and St. Joseph's entered halftime with a 61-12 lead.
In all, St. Joe's forced 21 Pratt turnovers while committing only eight and out rebounding Pratt 54-24.
Fernando Vazquez led all five Eagles in double figures with a game-high 21 points, while McCarthy scored all 11 of his points in the first half.
At 5-5, Pratt is in action again on Monday, January 19, playing host to Pine Manor College.
