NEW YORK -- Pratt bested Yeshiva University, 3-1, after suffering a 3-0 loss to Culinary Institute of America in women's volleyball play Sunday afternoon in women's volleyball play at Baruch College.
In the team's win (25-13, 20-25, 25-14, 25-21) over Yeshiva, the Cannoneers hit .156 as a team while holding the Maccabees to .028 attack thwarted in part by two solo blocks from middle hitter Hannah Calderwood. The junior led all players with 16 kills on 44 attacks, and sophomore Abby Nagy added eight kills on 23 swings for a .261 attack.
Senior Alli Houghton handed out 10 assists as the Cannoneers alternated wins and losses for an eighth straight match. On the attack, Houghton totaled four kills on 12 attacks, and junior Arianna O'Malley added a kill on three error-free swings.
In the loss to Culinary (25-14, 25-10, 25-11), Calderwood led Pratt with eight kills and added 12 digs, while Joan Wyeth paced all players with 16 digs. Houghton handed out five assists, but the Steels out-hit Pratt .269 to -.092.
At 6-13, Pratt rounds out its regular season a week from Thursday, on October 22, playing host to Cooper Union at 7:00 p.m.
