Yaglenski leads three-point barrage in Cannoneers 81-69 win at Touro

NEW YORK – After a 20-point lead was cut to two, Pratt Institute hit 47 percent of its three-point attempts in holding on for a 81-69 victory over host Touro College Sunday night at Baruch College in non-conference men's basketball play.

Sophomore Andrew Yaglenski atoned for a 1-9 performance at the free throw line in Friday night's two-point loss to Cooper Union by coming out red hot, knocking down his first seven shots, totaling 24 points by halftime, and scoring a game-high 32 on the night. The sophomore connected on 6-9 from deep and 4-5 at the line, combining with freshman Bubby Vernon to hit four three-pointers in the final four minutes in earning the Cannoneers the team's first road win of the season.

Pratt shot 59 percent from the floor in the first half in taking a 45-29 lead into the locker room, and layups from Yaglenski and Adam Blufarb upped the lead to 20 out of the break.  A 19-2 Touro run capped by an Ephrain Wieder layup at the 8:25 mark cut the lead to 56-54, but Vernon's trey at the 5:25 mark pushed the lead back to five, 63-58, forcing a head coach Irv Bader timeout. A Yaglenski three-pointer upped the lead to eight, and another Vernon triple extended the margin to nine, 69-60.

The Cannoneers led by eight or more the rest of the way, knocking down a season best 47 percent (9-19) three pointers, going on to an 81-69 win. Vernon added 13, sophomore Tytus Millikan 14, and freshman Isaac Green a season-high 12 on 4-8 shooting.

Pratt returns to play on January 19, playing host to King's (NY) College.
