Cannoneers go 2-1 at SUNY-Delhi quad-match

DELHI, NY – The Pratt Institute women's volleyball team, shorthanded following injuries to some of their key contributors, won two-of-three matches at the SUNY-Delhi quad match on Saturday afternoon. With the results, Pratt evens their overall record to 9-9.

Match 1 | Pratt 0, Delhi 3: The Cannoneers struggled offensively, committing 26 attacking errors while hitting -.113, as Pratt fell in straight sets to the Broncos of SUNY-Delhi 25-18, 25-11, 25-13.

Emelen Mikelic led Pratt with five kills, while Anna Elisse Uy contributed four kills and a team-best four service aces.

Defensively, Oliver Buika led the Cannoneers with three blocks and Hannah Lee notched double-digit digs for the seventh time this season, tallying 13 for the match.

The Broncos' offense hit .188 overall, led by Kristen Maslanka's five kills.     

Match 2 | Pratt 3, Culinary 0: Following their opening match loss, Pratt regrouped and downed the Steels of Culinary 26-24, 25-18, 25-14.

The Cannoneers offense was led by Emelen Mikelic's nine kills, while Oliver Buika and Cori Glidden added seven and six, respectively. Setter Alivia Senevoravong ran an efficient offense, tallying 24 assists as Pratt snapped their four-match losing streak.

Hannah Lee again led the Cannoneers in digs with 22, followed by 12 from Anna Elisse Uy and 10 from Emelen Mikelic. Buika and Senevoravong both added 2 blocks for the victors.

Match 3 | Pratt 3, Fisher College 0: With momentum following their previous victory, Pratt bested the Falcons of Fisher College 25-19, 25-23, 25-21 to finish the quad-match 2-1.

The Cannoneers attack was again led by Emelen Mikelic, who registered nine kills. Anna Elisse Uy set a new personal-best with eight kills, while Oliver Buika tallied four on a team best .333 hitting percentage.

Hannah Lee's 24 digs paced the defense, followed by Mikelic's 13 defensive scoops. Sophomore Cori Glidden added three total blocks as Pratt handed Fisher their only loss on the day.

Following the victory, Pratt head coach Louis Sepulveda praised the efforts of the Cannoneers.

"Today, I saw a group step up despite all the injuries. We took the challenge and the players stepped up in a big way. They all had the next-person-up mentality. I'm extremely proud of this group."

Up Next: The Cannoneers conclude their regular season with a non-conference showdown against the Lions of King's College on Wednesday, October 25, at the ARC. First serve is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
