Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Fast start sends Cannoneers to 2-0 on the season

BROOKLYN – Senior guard Andrew Yaglenski scored 19 points, and Akil Philip recorded a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds, as Pratt Institute men's basketball improved to 2-0 on the season with a 67-57 victory over RISD at the ARC.

Seven consecutive points from forward Tytus Millikan helped the Cannoneers open a quick 10-3 lead just five minutes into the game. The visitors would slowly chip away at Pratt's advantage and get within three, 25-22, with just seven minutes remaining in the first half. Following a RSID timeout, guard Bubby Vernon's three pointer ignited a 13-4 run that gave Pratt a 12-point cushion at intermission.

The second half began with RSID regaining speed as they struck for five quick points, until an Akil Philip layup halted their momentum. After seeing their lead drop into the single-digits, Pratt took control, holding RISD scoreless for nearly five minutes and building a commanding 16-point lead. Pratt would cruise the rest of the way, earning the 67-57 decision.

"It's great to be 2-0 to start the season," head coach Max Sass said following the victory. "I'm not sure we played our best game today, but we got it done and we're not giving it back."

UP NEXT – The Cannoneers continue their home stand this Monday, November 20, against Vermont Tech. An 8:00pm tipoff is scheduled.
