BRONXVILLE, NY – Led by Anna Bryce's 14 points, the Cannoneers of Pratt Institute snapped their two-game skid by routing the Gryphons of Sarah Lawrence College 53-28 in non-conference play at the Campbell Sports Center on Sunday afternoon.
AimeeLyn Miller posted a season-high 13 points, while Amissa Epperson's double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds helped Pratt even their overall record to 3-3.
The Cannoneers would storm out of the gate in the opening period, scoring the first six points of the game, ultimately building a 14-7 advantage after 10 minutes. Offense would be at a premium in the second, as neither team was able to establish any momentum. Regardless, Pratt would enter halftime leading by nine, 25-16.
After intermission, the Cannoneers defense took control, holding the Gryphons to a mere 5.3 percent (1-19) shooting in the third quarter. A pair of AimeeLyn Miller threes and four Epperson blocks allowed Pratt to build a 23-point lead heading into the fourth.
The Cannoneers would use the final 10 minutes of the game to expose some of their bench players to some quality minutes, most notably, Kyo Kyamoto (4 points) and Kathy Neblett (6 points, 11 rebounds).
For the game, Pratt would hold Sarah Lawrence to 13.9 percent shooting (10-72), including just 1-11 from beyond the arc.
