BRONXVILLE, NY – Pratt men's basketball, playing on the road for the first time this season, fell to the Gryphons of Sarah Lawrence College 85-64 on Sunday afternoon at the Campbell Sports Center. Pratt sees its record drop to 3-4, while the Gryphons move to 2-9 overall.
Vishal Vanka led the Cannoneers with 18 points, while Akil Philip added 13, and Andrew Yaglenski totaled 12 in defeat.
After falling behind early in the first half, a pair of Bubby Vernon threes helped Pratt cut the Gryphon lead to 20-10. The Cannoneers' attempts to cut the deficit even further were hampered by costly turnovers, resulting in Sarah Lawrence padding their lead to 14, 39-25, with just over a minute to play in the opening frame. Vanka and Philip would score the final six points of the half as Pratt trailed by eight, 39-31 at intermission.
Pratt would open the second half with a sense of urgency as Adam Blufarb's deep three kept the Cannoneers within striking distance. However, leading 47-38, Sarah Lawrence would go on a 24-4 run that spanned ten minutes to build an insurmountable lead. The Gryphons would cruise from then on, posting the 85-64 victory.
UP NEXT – The Cannoneers travel to Dix Hills to face the Sound of Five Towns College next Sunday, December 17th. Tipoff will take place at 3:00 pm.
