BOSTON, MA – The Pratt Institute Cannoneers men's basketball team couldn't find an offensive rhythm as they fell to the Falcons of Fisher College 80-35 on Saturday afternoon at Fecteau-Leary Gymnasium in Boston.
The visiting Cannoneers' ineffectiveness from the field included shooting just 23.1 percent (12-52), with 7 of 25 from beyond the arc, as compared to the Falcons, who hit 43.6 percent (34-78) of their attempts from the floor. Fisher also controlled the glass, out-rebounding Pratt by a 61-27 margin, resulting in the Falcons outscoring the Cannoneers in the paint 44-2.
For Pratt, senior Andrew Yaglenski registered 10 points and five rebounds, and Eric Xue and Akil Philip each collected nine points in defeat.
Consecutive 3-pointers by Akil Philip and Andrew Yaglenski, midway through the first, cut the Fisher advantage in half 12-6. Following a jumper from Pratt's Tytus Millikan that closed the gap to 14-8, Fisher would go on a 28-2 run to extend their lead. An Eric Xue three-ball, coupled with an Akil Philip layup attempted to cut into the deficit right before half.
Three successive trifectas at the start of the second half, two from Yaglenski and another Hamza Hamdeh, briefly gave the Cannoneers some momentum. However, the shooting woes from the first half were too much to overcome as the Falcons cruised to victory.
UP NEXT – The Cannoneers return to the ARC on Tuesday, November 28 for a non-conference clash against the Pioneers of Alfred State at 3:00 pm.
