Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Cannoneers can't keep pace, fall to Pioneers 92-43

BROOKLYN – Andrew Yaglenski and Tytus Millikan both scored a game-high 15 points, however, Pratt Institute men's basketball couldn't keep pace with an experienced and deep Alfred State team, falling to the Pioneers 92-43 on Monday afternoon at the ARC.

After spotting Alfred State an early 6-0 lead, Eric Xue's four-point play got the Cannoneers on the board. An ensuing 10-2 by the Pioneers increased the visitor's lead. However, Xue's second 3-pointer of the opening half allowed Pratt to keep it a two possession game. Trailing 30-14 midway through the first, five Yaglenski points – a trifecta and a pair of free throws – kept the Cannoneers in the game. Alfred State would control the remainder of half, scoring 13 points, while limiting Pratt's offense to only a pair of charity shots.

After an Adam Blufarb layup on the Cannoneers' opening possession of the second half, Alfred State used a 19-4 run that spanned 6:34 to increase their lead to 27, 64-27. Consecutive threes from Millikan were answered immediately by Alfred State, who shot 62.7 percent (42-67) as compared to Pratt's 29.2 percent (14-48). The Cannoneers would get no closer, ultimately dropping the contest 92-43.

Josh Miller-LaBar paced the Pioneers with 15 points, while Dante Jordan added an additional 14 for the victors.

UP NEXT – The Cannoneers return to conference play when they welcome the Warriors of Vaughn College to the ARC on Thursday, January 18. Tipoff is scheduled for 8:00pm.
