Hyde Park, N.Y. - September 16, 2018 - Junior forward Natt Slober found the back of the net four minutes and 13 seconds into play in the first overtime period to lift the Pratt Institute men's soccer team to a 2-1 win over the Culinary Institute of America on Sunday afternoon in Hyde Park.
Pratt picked up its second win of the season to even its record at 2-2, while CIA is now 1-1. The Cannoneers held a 22-11 shot advantage in the win, including a 12-6 edge in the second half of play. Pratt was also awarded six corner kicks to the Steels' five.
In net for the Cannoneers, Carter Boliek made five saves in the win, while his counterpart, Ammon McGilbra made nine stops and took the loss.
Sunday's contest proved to be a chippy one, as CIA came away with a yellow cards towards the end of the first half, and then early in the second half, Pratt's Diego Piña de la Hoz received a yellow card as well.
Although the two sides remained scoreless after 45 minutes, Pratt held a 8-5 shot advantage. The scoring drought was finally broken by Slober with only 11 minutes and six seconds remaining in the match, when he scored unassisted from seven yards out on the left side of the goal.
The Steels followed up shortly after with a goal of their own in the 85th minute, off a free kick from 28 yards out by Dongkil Hwang.
In the early overtime period, graduate student Ofer Shouval was able to find Slober, who was able to shoot low past the goalie from inside the box to win the game for coach Randy Velasco's group.
Now for the fourth time in his career, Slober has scored two or more goals in a game for the Cannoneers.
