BROOKLYN, N.Y. - September 20, 2018 - Freshman forward Diego Piña de la Hoz scored with 30:22 remaining in the contest to cut the Cannoneer's deficit to one, but the Pratt Institute men's soccer team fell to King's College (NY), 3-1, on Aviator Sports Complex Field #1 on Thursday night.
With the loss, Pratt falls to 2-3 on the season, while the Lions improved to 4-1.
King's College, which had only allowed three goals through their first five games, gave up one to Pratt, as Piña de la Hoz was able to take advantage of a corner kick rebound, and head the ball in past the Lion's goalie, his second goal on the year.
Freshman goalkeeper Carter Boliek finished the game with four stops as King's College held a 22-5 advantage in shots, even though Pratt held a 3-1 margin in corner kicks.
After a scoreless first half for both sides, it didn't take long for the Lions to break the tie, as Anton Soerlin was able to use his left foot to squeeze a kick past Boliek in the 48th minute of the match. King's College tacked on another goal only eight minutes later to increase their lead to 2-0.
The momentum shift of Piña de la Hoz's 59th minute goal didn't last long, as the Lions responded with their third and final goal from Isaiah Williams in the 68th minute. Williams was able to elude a tackle from Boliek and shot on an open net.
Up Next: The Cannoneers will look to bounce back on the road on Saturday, September 23 when they will take on Valley Forge at 2:00 PM.
