Men's Volleyball Falls to Sarah Lawrence and Neumann in Tri-Match

BRONXVILLE, NY – February 23, 2019 - The Pratt Institute men's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches in their first tri-match of the 2019 campaign, as the Cannoneers were bested by host Sarah Lawrence College and Neumann University in five sets and three sets, respectively in Bronxville, NY. Pratt is now 1-6 on the year.

Pratt was narrowly defeated by Sarah Lawrence by set scores of 25-21, 25-23, 26-28, 14-25, 9-15, and then fell to the Knights of Nuemann by set scores of 25-20, 25-14, 25-15.

Leading the Cannoneers were outside hitter Albi Marke (Staten Island, NY), and right side Devin Dzierba (Clarence, NY), who combined for 37 kills on the day, while middle blocker Graham Rose finished with five blocks in the two matches. Junior setter Kristopher Patton (Holbrook, NY) registered 40 assists on the day, while Marke added 27 digs overall.

Pratt Institute will resume action on Saturday, March 2 and Sunday, March 3, when the team travels to Keuka Park, NY to participate in the Keuka Men's Volleyball Invite, taking on Keuka and New Jersey City University.

Sarah Lawrence College 3, Pratt Institute 2 -- Game One

Pratt lost a close match to open the tri-match victory against hosts Sarah Lawrence on Saturday afternoon, as the Cannoneers dropped to 1-5 on the year. In the loss, Dzierba was impressive, with 14 kills and five aces. Marke chipped in with 10 kills, five assists, and a match-high 20 digs, while Patton added 10 digs and three blocks to go along with his 26 assists. As a team, the black and yellow hit .059 as it totaled 39 kills compared to the Gryphons' 37.

Nuemann University 3, Pratt 0 -- Game Two

The trio of Marke, Dzierba, and Uddhav Kedia (Mumbai, India) combined for 17 kills but it wasn't enough for the Cannoneers to avoid its second loss of the day, as Nuemann won by set scores of 25-20, 25-14, 25-15.

Marke led the way as he had seven kills on 25 swings, hitting at a .083 clip. Patton was able to show off his versatility, as he totaled 5 digs, to go along with 14 assist
