BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The Pratt Institute women's volleyball team (0-1, 0-0 HVIAC) was bested in its season opener to Wheaton College at the NYU opening quad match, 3-0 (16-25, 18-25, 21-25) on Friday evening.
Junior
Badesim Kubak (Istanbul, Turkey/ITU Ekrem Elginkan) led the way with a game high 23 assists while adding six digs and two blocks. Senior

(Carolina, PR/Colegio Adianez) added seven kills and a team high three service aces.
After dropping the first set 25-16, the Cannoneers rallied from a 12-7 deficit, winning the next five points to tie the score at 12. Wheaton scored 10 of the next 14 points to open up its largest lead of the set. Pratt fought back to get within two, but could not get closer at Wheaton took the second set, 25-18.
Despite trailing by as many as nine in the third set, the Cannoneers fought back late in the set, winning four-straight points on match point to get within 24-21. Pratt, however, could not complete the comeback as Wheaton took the next point to take the set, 25-21.
The Cannoneers look to bounce back on Saturday when it takes on Buffalo State at 2 pm and host NYU at 4 pm.
