HYDE PARK, NY - The Pratt Institute's men's basketball team (6-7) scored the first 19 points of the game and raced by the Culinary Institute of America, 79-58 on Sunday afternoon.
Griffin Levine (Dallas, TX) eclipsed the 20 point plateau for the fourth straight game, scoring 22 points including five three pointers.
Patrick O'Gorman (Glen Ridge, NJ) poured in 21 points on 7-13 from the floor.
King Turnbull (Houston, TX) notched in his first double of the season, scoring 13 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
Over the first 4:49, Pratt scored the first 19 points to blow open a quick 19-0 lead. The 19-0 run is the largest of the season to date.
The next 10 minutes saw the Culinary Institute slice the lead to just four at 25-21. The Cannoneers closed out the half on a 16-6 run to take a 41-27 lead into the break.
The Cannoneers gradually grew the lead to begin the second half, opening a 63-45 advantage 10 minutes in. Culinary never got closer then 12 in the second half and Pratt's lead grew to as many as 23 with just under three minutes remaining before it took the contest by 21.
Pratt shot 45.3% from the floor and connected on 8-20 from beyond the arc. Culinary struggled behind a strong defensive effort from the Cannoneers, shooting just 37% from the field and committed 19 turnovers.
Pratt returns to action on Wednesday when it travels to Albany Pharmacy for a 6 pm tip.
