Women's Basketball Downs PSU Scranton, Earns Weekend Split

SCRANTON, PA - Beverlee Caraway (Pryor, OK) scored 24 points as the Pratt Institute's women's basketball team (3-8) stormed by PSU Scranton, 62-46 on Sunday afternoon.

Caraway's 24 points came on 10-25 from the floor. She also added 10 rebounds and three steals. Sophie Bischoff (Durham, NC) finished with 14 points, nine rebounds and a season high eight blocks.

Determined not to get off to a slow start, Pratt took an early seven point lead in the first quarter. The Cannoneers continued to lead into the second quarter as it opened up its first double-digit advantage at 30-19 with 3:39 remaining in the half. Pratt held the Nittany Lions to just 22 points over the first 20 minutes as it took a 32-22 lead into halftime.

The Nittany Lions cut Pratt's lead to just five heading into the fourth quarter. In the final period, the Cannoneers defense was suffocating, allowing just five points and holding PSU to 1-20 from the field. With a 51-46 lead, the Cannoneers shut the door, scoring the final 11 points of the game en route to a 62-46 victory.

On Saturday, Pratt fell to Penn State York, 53-43. Bischoff led the way with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Emily Guerra (Babylon, NY) added 11 points and 12 rebounds while Caraway finished with 11 points and five rebounds.

Pratt returns to action on Wednesday when it travels to Valley Forge form a 7 pm tip.
