BROOKLYN, NY - The Pratt Institute's women's basketball team (5-10) downed the King's College of NY for the second time this season, 54-39 on Thursday evening.
Beverlee Caraway (Pryor, OK) and
Sophie Bischoff (Durham, NC) each finished with 14 points. Caraway added eight rebounds and five steals while Bischoff totaled seven rebounds and five blocks.
Trailing 4-3 a minute into the game, the Cannoneers rolled off the next six points to open up a 9-4 lead. Pratt would score the final nine points over a 5:30 minute span to take an 18-6 lead into the second quarter. Pratt held King's to just two points over the final 9:13.
After scoring the first two buckets of the second quarter, the Cannoneers lead grew to 17, the largest of the contest. King's would trim the lead to 11, however, Pratt ended the half on a 14-2 run to take a 37-14 lead into the break.
King's outscored Pratt by eight in the second half but would never get closer then 15. Pratt led by as many as 23 in the final frame before taking the game, 54-39.
Pratt held the Lions to just 20.6% shooting from the floor and forced 27 turnovers.
The Cannoneers return to action on Saturday when it hosts Davis College at 1 pm.
