BROOKLYN, NY - The Pratt Institute's women's volleyball team (4-3) outlasted Sarah Lawrence in a five set thriller, 3-2 (22-25, 25-21, 25-11, 18-25, 15-9) on Thursday evening.
Rose Moon (Santa Fe, NM) led the way with 17 kills, 13 digs and three service aces.
Avery Toomes (Houston, TX) finished with a season high 46 assists and six service aces while
Olivia JulichÂ
(Philadelphia, PA) added 15 kills and three blocks.
After falling in the first set 25-22, Pratt came storming back in set two, 25-21 to tie the match at one.
The third set was dominated by the Cannoneers, 25-11. Pratt dominated from then start, winning the first 13 points, the largest run of the season. The Cannoneers led by double-digits the remaining of the set to win by 14.
Sarah Lawrence bounced back in set four, 25-18 to tie the match at two.
In the deciding set, tied at three, Pratt scored the next six points to open up a 9-3 advantage. Sarah Lawrence cut the lead to 11-8 but the Cannoneers took four of the final five points to take the set 15-9 and win the match 3-2.
As a team, Pratt had season highs of 73 digs, 64 kills, and 59 assists.
Pratt returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Centenary University for a tri-match with Penn State Abington beginning at 1 pm.
