BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Pratt Institute women's tennis team remained unbeaten and improved to 6-0 on the season with an 8-1 triumph over borough foe Brooklyn College (3-8) on Saturday afternoon at the Roosevelt Tennis Courts.
The Cannoneers led 2-1 after the doubles session after Sophie Bischoff and Nastazja Cancellaro took their No. 1 match, 8-3, and Julia Ognibene and Victoria Delgado teamed up for an 8-1 win in the No. 3 position.
But Pratt cruised in the singles session winning all six matches in straight sets. Bischoff dropped just one game in the top singles match, 6-1, 6-0. Cancellaro prevailed in the No. 2 match. 6-3, 6-2.
Ognibene was ahead 5-0 in the first set when her opponent in the No. 3 match retired. Shannon Bollin notched a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles.
Delgado and Alice Li both surrendered just a pair of games in the final two matches. Delgado cruising to a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 5 and Li dispatching her No. 6 foe, 6-0, 6-2.
Pratt hosts Sarah Lawrence College tomorrow at the USTA National Tennis Center for a match starting at 1 p.m.
