BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Playing away from home for the first time in three weeks, the Pratt Institute women's volleyball secured a 3-1 (25-20, 18-25, 25-21, 25-21) win over Moravian University on Saturday afternoon.
The Cannoneers improve to 11-7 overall and are winners of three straight and four of their last five. Moravian falls to 12-15 on the season.
Olivia Julich hit a blistering .387 while slamming a match-high 16 kills to go along with seven blocks (four solo). Rose Moon recorded a 12-kill, 15-dig double-double and served up six aces. Deanna Colondona landed a career-high eight kills and brought up as many digs. Gabby Genduso dished out 40 assists, her third 40-plus-assist match of the season.
Pratt opened a 12-3 lead to open the match and never trailed in the opening set. The Greyhounds used a 5-0 run to break a 13-all tie in the second and held on to level the match at one set apiece.
A closely contested third set saw Pratt pull away to a 16-9 lead after three straight points from Julich – a kill, assisted block and solo block – but Moravian would draw even at 20-all. But the Cannoneers would pull away again with three unanswered and winning four of the final five points to take the set.
The fourth frame saw the hosts build a 19-14 lead before the gold-and-black scored six straight to take a 20-19 lead. Still holding on to a 22-21 edge, Moon logged back-to-back kills and stuffed a solo block on match point to seal the victory.
Moravian was led by Jenna Deegan's 11 kill and Sophie Bauer added 10 kills.
Pratt heads to borough foes Brooklyn College on Thursday, October 27 for a 7 p.m. first serve.
