NEW YORK – The Pratt Institute men's soccer team suffered an 8-0 defeat to No. 17/21 Western Connecticut State University on Wednesday evening at Randall's Island Park.
The Cannoneers drop to 1-12-2 on the season while WestConn – ranked No. 17 by D3Soccer.com Poll and No. 21 by the United Soccer Coaches Poll – remains unbeaten at 18-0-1.
Franz Muhaj opened the scoring just over five minutes in and the the Wolves finished with four goals in the first half and added another four in the second. WestConn maintained a 41-3 shot advantage for the contest.
The gold-and-black nearly spoiled the shutout in the 74th minute when Bryan Hong-Dominguez's shot from outside the box found the crossbar. Hong-Dominguez finished with two shots and Taewan Kim had one shot. Dimitrios Papagiannakopoulos finished with four saves and Anil Pugh stopped three shots.
Pratt wraps up their 2022 campaign on Saturday, October 29 hosting York College in a rescheduled game from the beginning of the season. Kickoff is set for 10 a.m. at Aviator Sports and Events Center.
