Women’s Volleyball Defeats Baruch at Home, 3-1

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Led by Olivia Julich's match-high 18.5 points, the Pratt Institute women's volleyball team secured a four-set victory (25-18, 25-21, 16-25, 25-18) at the Activity Resource Center on Tuesday evening.

Julich paced three double-figure point efforts posting 10 kills, six aces, and five blocks. Rose Moon had a match-high tying 11 kills, hitting at a .333 clip with two aces and a block. Gabby Genduso dished out 33 assists and also added four blocked on the defensive end.

Pratt (8-6) used an 8-0 run powered by a pair of kills from Alison Fagan and a pair of aces from Julich to seize the opening set. A hotly contested second stanza saw 12 ties and eight lead changes. Baruch (12-7) crept out to a 21-20 advantage before the Cannoners won the final five points – with Julich landing another pair of aces – for a 2-0 set lead.

The visitors swung the momentum in their favor in the third racing out to a 9-1 lead and never trailing to avoid a sweep. The Bearcats held the momentum early in the fourth but Pratt took the lead at 7-6 and maintained their distance with four kills from Moon and four from Anna Knoblach in the closing set.

Ranked 16th in the nation and leading the Coast-2-Coast Conference in aces per set, the Cannoners doubled up the Bearcats, 16-8, in service aces. Deanna Colondona brought up 15 digs and Moon also chipped in 12 digs for a double-double.

Baruch was led by Anesa Featovic's 11 kills and Julia Perkowski's eight kills and four blocks.

Pratt returns to the home floor on Thursday, October 6 hosting William Paterson University with a 6 p.m. first serve.
