Men’s Basketball Falls to Cobleskill in Oneonta Consolation Game

Julian Stoll scored a career-high 13 points and Ace Bibb chipped in 10 as nine different Cannoneers recorded a field goal

ONEONTA, N.Y. – Senior Julian Stoll scored 13 points and junior Ace Bibbs chipped in 10 points as the Pratt Institute men's basketball team was turned away by SUNY Cobleskill, 81-65, in the consolation game of the Michael A. Freilich Tournament on Saturday afternoon.

Stoll shot 5-for-9 from the field en route to a career-high in scoring and he also grabbed seven boards and rejected two shots. Bibbs also pulled down six caroms and swiped three steals.

Pratt (1-2) used a 10-2 run powered by a pair of Stoll trifectas and a Van Trier jumper early in the first to jump out to a 15-8 lead seven minutes in. But Cobleskill (2-1) responded with a 22-4 run to go on top and build a double-digit edge, which they carried into the lockers, 43-30.

After trailing by as many as 16 in the second, Pratt used a 7-0 spurt capped by a Daniel Golub triple to cut the deficit to single digits, 55-48, with 11:35 to play, but the Fighting Tigers pulled away again for good with 12-2 run and Pratt couldn't cut back into the deficit.

Juniors Patrick O'Gorman and Thomas Van Trier and senior Aaron Nisbett each chipped in eight points, with O'Goman dishing out a game-high five assists and Van Trier handing out five dimes. Nisbett also swatted a pair of blocks.

Golub finished with seven points and grabbed a team-best eight rebounds.

Iziah Pigott led four Fighting Tigers scoring in double figures with a game-high 19 points and Justin Feldman added a 15-point, 11-rebound double-double. Cobleskill shot an efficient 51 percent (32-63) from the field with 54 points coming from inside the paint.

Pratt shot 35 percent (21-60) for the contest with nine different Cannoneers recording a field goal.

Pratt returns to the hardwood on Tuesday, November 15 to face Hunter College in a 7 p.m. road test.
