NEW YORK – Junior Patrick O'Gorman scored a game-high 23 and the Pratt Institute posted their season high in scoring in a 105-89 road loss to Hunter College on Tuesday evening.
Junior Daniel Golub recorded his first double-double of the season – sixth of his career – with 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting while pulling down a game-high 11 rebounds. Junior Ace Bibbs netted 17 points on an efficient 8-of-11 shooting night, stuffing the stat sheet with six boards, four steals and three assists.
Senior Julian Stoll rounded out four in double figures for Pratt (1-3) with 14 points and four rebounds. First-year Noah Rasmussen scored a career-high eight points off the bench.
Ryan Lau led Hunter (1-2) with 18 points and five rebounds. Jeremy Montrose had 17 points, six steals and four assists as four Hawks also finished in double figures.
A Thomas Van Trier bucket after the opening tip gave the black-and-gold their lone lead. Hunter scored 13 straight to jumpstart a run that built a 45-20 separation, but Pratt closed out the final six-and-a-half minutes of the half outscoring the hosts, 16-6, to trail 51-36, heading into the lockers.
After shooting 36 percent (12-for-33) in the opening 20, the Cannoneers improved their connect rate to 62 percent (21-34) after intermission led by Bibbs' 15 points on 7-of-9 shooting. But despite pulling within 12 on multiple occasions the black-and-gold couldn't get the deficit down to single digits.
Pratt finished with a season-high 49 percent shooting and 33 field goals made. Hunter shot just 39 percent (31-of-80) but made twice as many three-pointers (16-8) and 12 more free throws. The Cannoneers won the battle of the boards, 57-38.
Pratt heads to the Garden State to compete in The College of New Jersey Tournament this weekend. The Cannoneers face the host Lions in the opening round this Friday, November 18 at 5 p.m.
